-Finally a trailer for The Road-

At long last, we have the first trailer for The Road, John Hillcoat’s (The Proposition) adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s pulitzer prize-winning novel, starring Viggo Mortensen and Charlize Theron.  McCarthy also wrote No Country for Old Men and Blood Meridian, and critics have often described his work as “gnarly as f*ck.”

The Road is the epic post-apocalyptic tale of a journey taken by a father and his young son across a barren landscape that was blasted by an unnamed cataclysm that destroyed civilization and most life on earth

It opens in October, and my guess is that it’s going to be pretty good.  For one thing, no one can look like the survivor of an apocalyptic event like Viggo.  For another, skulls mounted on sticks in the trailer.  Think about it, have you ever seen a movie that had skulls mounted sticks in the trailer that wasn’t awesome?  Is the answer yes?  Congratulations, you’re a liar.

Sorry i couldnt figure out how to embed this gay media player.

Film Of the Month: "Taken"

"Taken", starring Liam Neeson, Maggie Grace, and Famke Jenssen, follows an ex-CIA agent who is faced with recovering his daughter after she is kidnapped by human trafficking/sex-traffickers in Paris, France.
Liam, one of my most respected actors, hasn't been in the limelight recently. he had a credited role in "Batman Begins". Going a little further back his only big film in the last years with Love Actually, Kinsey, and the Gangs of New York. Obviously, his most famous film Schindler's List, was the breadwinner earning him several Oscar nominations.

He stuns the audience in this new thriller with a raw and unabridged glimpse into a graphic world of human trafficking, drug abuse, and violence. Fight Choreography is some of the best yet simply done I have witnessed recently. There's no showy Hollywood moves just simple unbridled hatred for Albanian slavers and their associates. Torture, extortion, and even shooting an unarmed woman/old acquittance's isn't off the table either.

This movie didn't fail to amaze me of the fact the Liam Neeson is an outstanding actor because of his ability to transcend from a serious character to a "shoot first, ask questions later" attitude in the blink of an eye. And all the while doing with that hint of an Irish brogue and self evident sophistication that exceeds many of his peers in Hollywood. Most definitely a film you want to partake in.

Film of the Month: Everything Is Illuminated

Starring Elijah Wood and Eugene Hutz, Liev Schreiber's Everything is Illuminated is a Drama/Comedy about a young Jewish mans plight for his family history. Illuminated is based on the novel written in 2002 by Jonathan Safran Foer and his journey to Ukraine to find his families connections to the past. Elijah Wood plays the obsessive author who collects anything and everything and travels through Ukraine with two men from the travelling "agency" he has paid to take him to Trachimbrod in Ukraine, a town which the Nazi's plowed over and massacred in 1942. Foer travels with Alex, a young Ukrainian man convinced that he is the king of the dance clubs in his town. He also travels with Alex's "blind" Grandfather, who is their driver, along with Sammy Davis Junior Junior, the seeing eye bitch (dog). The film is extremely funny, but also is remarkably enlightening and empowering. Elijah Wood plays Foer with perfection and gives the film its very dramatic touch. Everything is Illuminated is highly recommended by The Speakeasy.
