Michael Jackson 1958-2009

Lets be perfectly honest. For the last decade, unless you read those incredibly stupid tabloids in the supermarket checkouts, Michael Jackson has been completely irrelevant. In no way am I trying to take away from the mans career but I think the media frenzy is a little absurb. Maybe I just expected a different reaction. Everyone is just in complete and utter shock over his "sudden" passing but I don't understand it. Sure he has influenced every pop artist EVER as well as generations of people, but he had really turned into a joke. His appearance alone should have been an indicator that he was well on his way to his death. It's not like the comeback he was about to attempt was going to launch him back into the center of the music world. The real tragedy here isn't the death of Michael Jackson on June 25th 2009, but the Michael Jackson who died in the mid 90's. The skin bleaching and the noise jobs are a travesty and a product of the darkest side of the Pop Industry. The child molestation charges and the baby dangling are different issues he had that are just plain bizarre. I think to sum it up his former wife Lisa Marie Presley has said it best: "A predicted ending by him, by loved ones and by me, but what I didn't predict was how much it was going to hurt when it finally happened."
